This is a timely video, as Prez Obama has recently announced the addition of 30K troops in Afghanistan. Bill Moyers, now one of the best journalists out there (a real journalist, not someone who espouses rumor), served as Press Secretary in Lyndon B Johnson’s White House and was privy to many of the conversations surrounding Vietnam. In this episode, he shows some of the telephone conversations Johnson had with people regarding Vietnam and more specifically, he shows the conundrum Johnson was in. Should we escalate? Should we leave? Should we look to other methods other than bombing? In the end, he urges Obama not to make the same mistake LBJ made.

The title of this blog is a blurb taken from a shampoo bottle. Yes, a shampoo bottle! I read it every time I take a shower and think it’s poignant and simple, while at the same time being a bit mysterious. It stems from the belief that we (and everything in existence) are all a part of one system and are all connected–we  depend on one another for the whole system to thrive.  The quote is attributable to Emanuel Bronner, or more commonly, Dr. Bronner.
